I'v e been going back and forth everyday and thought if we have a "favorite" product we could share what it is. I'm new and going shopping. If someone has a favorite blush, any make-up, skin care, shampoo, conditioner, vitamin, etc It would be so helpful and much simplier. There are tons of products out there, so between the brain frog from being gluttened and the choices it would be so helpful! Thanks LindaLee p.s. I'll learn how to put an icon on eventually.

I use Emenince face cleanser/moisturizer and Bare Minerals and glo Minerals Make-up. Emenince is not all gluten-free though. You have to read the label. But it is all natural, organic ingredients, so if there is gluten in there at all, it will be on the label. I have also read posts from others who have said that Bare Minerals cleansers and stuff are not gluten-free, but I don't use those, just the make-up. And I really like both!

I use Alterna Caviar Shampoo and Conditioner. The hairspray is not gluten-free.

I use Estee Lauder Equalizer foundation, and their lip pencils and eye pencils.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head ...

Ah! I love Mary Kay. I used to sell it (and I am still a consultant, but I don't use a lot of their stuff anymore). I like the Bare Mineral foundation much more than the MK foundation. And their nail polish has gluten in it, by the way. One of the mascara's did too, but they phased that one out, so if yours is less than 3 months old, then you shouldn't have on of the ones that had wheat protien in it. Anyway, cool!

Is Emenince something to get at the health food store? Is the glo minerals from bare minerals? Alot of people seem to like bare essentials they call it - I think its the same

Actually, I get Eminence from my local spa (where my aesthetician was the one who noticed a difference in my skin when I went gluten-free) and she suggested an organic brand. She found this stuff for me, and liked it so much, that she started selling it there! They have a website too, double-u double-u double-u dot eminenceorganics dot com. (I was spelling it wrong earlier, it is e-m-i-n-e-n-c-e). And I think Bare Essentials is the company name, and Bare Minerals is the name of the make-up. glo Minerals is a different mineral make-up company all their own. It is a little more expensive, but they have some things that Bare Minerals don't have, like a pressed powder mineral compact.

We like the shampoo bar from BeanTree because it is just olive oil with no added worries (of course, lye to make it soap! LOL)

I like the aubrey organics line of products. They are very skin safe.

I use their sunblocks and I also use Alba sunblocks.

I use Aubrey's silk transculent powder for face.

Homemade lip gloss/balm is easy to make, and we do that at home.

:)

They have 3 different kinds, they have the regular clear one, then they have one with gold flecks and one with silver I think. The ones with flecks are venom flash.

The lip venom (regular) is great, too!

It's safe. I found it on here somewhere where someone called them. Either way, no reaction :)

I'll be honest, I'm not very careful about makeup or skincare but so far have had no problems. I use a face lotion that I love but it's not a name brand you can buy. It's manufacture by one of the companies that makes the makeup for the larger brands but I think only smaller private labels use it.

Right now I am using a Giorgio Armani foundation, Clinique concealer, Nars and Fresh Blush, Laura Mercier Bronzer and Mac Lipsticks. The only one I checked out is the lipsticks and are confirmed gluten-free. The others must be fine because I have no problems.

For shampoo I'm currently using John Frieda highlighting shampoo, Finesse conditioner and some frizz taming thing from Biolage.

But I kinda just use whatever I get from the beauty sales at work. I rarely ever buy makeup or hair products.

Oh, one thing I do buy is this awesome chapstick. I don't think you can get it in the US. I had a tube that a friend gave me to try after a trip in Europe, and last time DH went to Canada for business he brought me back a ton. It's called Lobello. It's the best Chapstick ever!! (And it's cheap).

I'm using Laura Mercier concealer and Nars lipstick, blush and bronzer -- both brands are completely gluten-free, according to the calls I made.

I swap between a Lorac lip polish and a Delux lipgloss over my chapstick.

I've been swapping between Aveda Sap Moss shampoo (gluten-free -- the conditioner isn't) and Dove -- using the Dove conditioner most of the time.

Just a warning: it stings for a few minutes after you put it on! It's not bad though, just spicy, and the effects are worth it ;)

Oh, and warn your husband before you kiss him! He might not enjoy that much...men aren't into the pain is beauty thing :P

I use coconut oil for lots of stuff - eye make-up remover, moisterizer, eye cream etc. etc.

Coconut oil is also good in the kitchen! I especially like it on air popped popcorn ... half butter, half coconut oil, with some sea salt and Bragg's Liquid Aminos! It's a natural cure for candida.

I've also used it after the shower while I'm still wet as a moisturizer (not the same jar as is used in the kitchen  )

It is amazing as a moisturizer though!

I also have to sing the praises of popcorn popped old fashion style with coconut oil. UMMMMM!!

It's good to know I can use it as a mousturizer, the ever all-purpose coconut oil :)

And, it's a misconception that coconut oil is bad for you!! It's only the processed, hydrogenated, garbage that is bad. Some saturated fat is good for you and this is one of them! Of course, that's as hard to explain to people as celiac disease is! :P

Kerastase Bain Miroir shampoo

Kerastase Chroma Reflect conditioner

Matrix Vavoom Volumizing Foam (not sure if this is gluten-free, but I feel fine using it)

Proactiv Renewing Cleanser

Dove bar soap

Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil

(the rest of the makeup I use might have gluten... I'm not sure)

I'm also a nurse, but one who has worked in chronic care, and to some extent, it is more satisfying to see patients through to a diagnosis (as opposed to working in the ED), but an accurate diagnosis does not occur not as often as it should! Your posting presents a lot of information. But a couple of things I can respond to. One, celiac disease is diagnosed by endoscopy and biopsy of the duodenum. So, pathology will need to weigh in. It's not diagnosed on gastroscopy. (At least, not as far as I know). Two, did you get blood tests for celiac disease? You will need to be eating gluten in order for those to be accurate. Three, where was the CT angiogram (of what)? I could go on and on, but thought I'd start there.
    • trents
Was a biopsy done when you had your gastroscopy? Concerning your anemia, are you B12 deficient? It's nearly impossible to get sufficient B12 if you are a vegetarian unless you take supplements.
    • Suzi374
And I’m anaemic, however I’m also female and vegetarian. I had an iron trans a couple of years ago however it’s starting to dwindle and taking supplements doesn’t seem to work. I can’t seem to absorb it.

Hi, I attended a neurologist appt last Tuesday, which I nearly cancelled, due to ongoing numbness and tingling in toes to mid foot. One of the first things he asked was ‘are you celiac’. I’m not. He thought all reflexes were ok but at the last minute decided on nerve conduction tests which were low normal. He was a little confused as he felt they should be better and tried a new set of probs, all the time, giving me multiple shocks which were not enjoyable lol. Anyway, he’s now ordered tests for myeloma, and all the vitaminy things that so many of you mention on here, also tests looking for autoimmune responses. I already have Hashimotos. Interestingly, to me, but maybe someone out there can relate or knows more than i do, although I was a nurse, but ED not ‘weird symptoms’  nurse. Anyway back to the interesting thing, I took duramine in 2013 to lose weight which caused a massive panic attack when I stopped taking it and half my hair fell out. I only took it for a week but it was horrible and I regret it. It triggered ongoing panic attacks which are horrendous. So I feel like I’m a bit crazy. Then in 2020 I had this sudden onset of horrible pain when trying to eat a cinnamon roll. It continued and I lost around 20 kgs. I had two gastroscopes and a colonoscopy and they were all normal. I scored a barium swallow and CT angiogram. All normal. The pain subsided a little but I was left with reflux and an awful feeling that I couldn’t get air when I ate some foods. This was not anxiety.  The anxiety was separate and I still maintain this. This was something to do with eating. It was like the air was thick but I wasn’t short of breath. I just had the sensation I was, then it triggered anxiety. Anyway, I had other weird things- couldn’t bend knees to shave legs in shower lol. Knees felt stiff and swollen but they weren’t. Knee WOUld swell up randomly but mri showed minimal issues. A bit of a meniscus degeneration but insignificant. Then the buzzing sensations in my head, the feeling like someone was stabbing me with something sharp. So now, I pre empted his tests, although I don’t think I’m celiac because it should have come up on gastroscopy, I’ve gone off gluten. Since Tuesday last week so 9 days. Since then I don’t appear to be as constipated, I realised I got through today without a nap and I’m not tired, maybe it’s just today and not related but I get very tired normally and sleep straight after work often, I can bend my knees and shave my legs lol, the buzzing vibrating has gone from my head, I had to call and ambulance as my heart decided we were off on a run, but we weren’t running and I’ve been a bit twitchy at bed time when trying to sleep, reflux is improving, I did get the weird suffocating feeling a bit when eating today but not as bad normall. Tingling and numbness still present and I felt like it moved up my legs a bit today but I’m a bit jittery. So I don’t know if it’s celiac disease or a gluten intolerance but I think, and it may be wishful thinking because my symptoms do make life a bit challenging, but maybe I’m feeling better. I don’t feel as cloudy. My thinking feels crisper. Like there’s no buzzing and I’m not fighting to break through the cloudiness now. I hope so much that this may help me feel a bit better moving forward. It would be a miracle as I really have struggled to work and parent and keep the house clean and I’m always anxious and exhausted.  If you get this far, please tell me if you you can relate to any of the above. Oh and tonsils out 5 years ago but before that antibiotics multiple times a year, sometimes intramuscular because they were so bad.  Op was meant to take 30 mins, it took 1.5 hours due to size of them.
