I have been told from someone that has celiac that you can have no colors with Lakes( I don't even know what the means) particularly Red 40 & blue # 1. My husb was just diagnosed, so i am trying to do the right thing, but I have found nothing to support this "lake" theory.
Do any of you know anything about color lakes and whether they have gluten in them or not?? Thanks again everyone for you help. As soon as my husb was dx i looked for a message board to educate myself. I know I would learn faster here than anywhere. biggrin.gif

When I was first diagnosed I remeber by dad telling me that red #40 and yellow #5 had gluten. But then I have found lots of foods and candy that are gluten free, and have both. I think its Jolly Ranchers that have both, and eat those all the time(they are gluten-free)

So I'm not sure where that originally came from. I'm sure there could be ones that are not gluten-free though.
