We were at Ikea today and I wanted to get a little something at the restaurant. I was going to get scrambled eggs and a fruit bowl, but the were done serving breakfast about 10 minutes earlier. So, since I couldn't tell if I could eat anything else there, we asked someone if they had ingredients lists of their food and they were really helpful. They got out a book with all their food ingredients listed and then they actually got me breakfast food even though they were done serving it. The guy got out the hashbrowns after they had already been put away and made them especially for me. I was very happy and impressed with their service.

I asked the head chef at my Ikea if I could eat anything and he said definitely not. It was really too bad. I love Ikea otherwise.

Hmmm...I wonder why not? I saw lots of possibilities. Maybe he just didn't want to deal with it.

We loved Ikea too, until one of the staff confided in us that sometimes the Ikea employees use the fryer (which should be gluten-free, as nothing gluten-y gets fried there from the menu) for personal use - ie. for their fozen chicken nuggets!!! Argh!!! I'm sure this isn't "allowed" and varies from Ikea to Ikea. Just a word of caution.

Ps. I'd already been there several times and was assured the fryer and french fries were gluten-free. My HUSBAND is the one who found this out at a later trip. grrrr
