My daughter has again got Cheilosis, very sore lips and cracks at the corners of her mouth. She had this a lot before Dx and being gluten-free but we only realised it was a coeliac symptom after I started researching celiac disease.
I understand it is caused by riboflavin deficiency, is there anything I can do other than vitamin pills and increasing milk, cheese, yogurt, meat etc in her diet? She has started to grow but She still isn't eating much and would much rather 'pick' than eat a large meal. sad.gif

My son gets little sores around the corner of his mouth, and a rash there in general if he gets something he's allergic to. Perhaps she's been glutened? We treat it with vaseline, and it goes away in several days. This may be irrelevant if it's something different than what we have blink.gif

Try giving her a vitamin b complex. i had that problem when I was younger, that cured it for me.

Great! I'v given her a fizzy BEROCCA which has a lot of B vits and will buy something more suitable for her age tomorrow.
We have been putting vaseline on but it seems to make it worse. I don't think she has been gluted but I'm still on a learning curve!

Hi Donna--I actually had that cracking at the corners of my mouth and when I was the most sick to my stomach, I would get cracks in my lips. When I learned that those things could be symptoms of Celiac, it made sense because I could never figure out why it happened. Topical things like lip balms etc. never really helped. When I began the gluten-free diet and added vitamin B6 to my multi. vitamin, the lip problems went away.

Mouth sores could also be related to this...

My daughter is allergic to vasiline. Her skin peels when she gets it on her.

It would not surprise me if she is sensitive to something else as well as gluten, I though vasiline was ok, she didn't put any on today and seems better. She also had a mega shot of b-vits today.
I really am starting to think that a total exclusion diet is the way to go for both of us although it will be hard when school starts again.

I have a very old copy of the Cambridge Excusion diet (My mum was on the trial years ago) does anyone have a newer/more user friendly ex diet that takes into account all the other allergens/salicylates/lectins etc? We don't have D so the Specific Carb diet would not seem to be a first choice???

Thanks Merika, there are some good tips on that site. Yes Exclusion Diet is what we tend to call it smile.gif
