I don't know if anyone is from this area or not, but I go to Ursinus College and have frequented the Collegeville Diner the past few weeks. Usually I keep it simple, asking only for an omelet (just veggie and cheese, I haven't tried to check about the sausage or bacon yet) and asking them to clean the grill before cooking my homefries. But Friday night we went there before our gymnastics meet (Saturday), and I decided I needed something a little more filling than an omelet. After speaking with the waitress, I was quite confident that they were able to prepare my meal safely. I had a very delicious Chicken Caprese, baked potato, and steamed cauliflower. And let me tell you, the portions are HUGE! There was enough chicken for two full meals (and I eat a lot!).
I haven't asked, but I'm wondering if their rice pudding (home-made) is g/f. Next time I'm in there (at a less busy time!), maybe I'll try to find out. All their desserts look fabulous, and rice pudding has become one of my favorite desserts! I'm also going to suggest that they get in contact with www.glutenfreerestaurants.org . There are no restaurants on that website for the entire state of PA... that just needs to change! All the waitstaff is very friendly and accomodating; it would be very nice if we celiacs could know exactly what we could eat there. Since I believe most stuff is made from scratch there, I would think there's a lot more that we can eat than I do!
