Ok so this is completely random, and I don't know if they sell these anywhere but NYC, but I'm totally craving hot nuts. (this may not be the technical name, but they are literally the hot nuts they sell from vendor carts on the street).

Clearly there is no where I'm going to be getting an ingredient list from, but has anyone tried eating these and been ok? Depending on what goes in them I'm assuming there really wouldn't be a lot of CC issues, they're only made with other nuts.

Jillian--Sorry, I don't know about how they're made, but when my husband and I go to NYC, the smell of those nuts make my mouth water as we walk around biggrin.gif

I'm thinking that the only ingredients -- you know besides HOT NUTS -- are salt and corn syrup. But who knows? I haven't risked it.

I haven't been in NYC for a long time, but they used to sell roasted chestnuts in a lot of big cities - you could smell the charcoal or coal that they used to roast them. If they are big round reddish brown nuts with a lighter colored circle, they should be chestnuts and should be safe to eat.

Hey J,

If they are peanuts, the are probable just boiled in salt water. Gluten Free Presumed.

PS - Thanks for the McD's gig, you were great and kudo's to your friends.

No they're not the chestnuts. I don't think they sell those on the streets here anymore. I haven't seen them in years. These are more like a peanut (i think they also have almonds and cashews), with like a sweet candy shell to them. One of these I may ask one of the vendors if he knows what goes into making them. LOL!!

Are you talking about the nuts like they sell in stadiums? Almonds, cashews, or pecans with a thin candy-like coating? If you are, the coating is GENERALLY just cinnamon, butter, and sugar. I have, however, seen these with gluten containing ingredients also. I've seen these nuts at health food type stores with ingredients clearly listed, they may be safer from a store. I hope that helps.

Are you talking about chestnuts, they are in a shell? If you are, I think you only see them around Christmas. We only get them up here in around November and December. They are great roasted or even as a stuffing...I love them.

Whoops did not see the previous chestnut question.
