I had bloodwork done on 1/4/06 and went gluten-free the same day. The bloodwork came back negative, but by that time I was feeling so much better, I didn't care.
We want to get pregnant soon and my husband wasn't really comfortable with me not having an official diagnosis. I went to my family doctor today - I told him my symptoms when I eat gluten (by mistake) and all my other symptoms that went away when I stopped eating gluten. He said I clearly can't eat gluten regardless of the blood test. He said that blood tests can show you are positive, but they can't determine if you don't have it.
I asked him if I needed to go to any other doctors or have any other tests done and he said no.
I was just nice to have someone validate what I have been going through. I was so worried all day that he was going to call me crazy, and he didn't at all.
For anyone in Tampa, Dr. Gelia knows what he is talking about.
