My whole family is going gluten-free and as I have an extremely picky 13-year-old, I was wondering what products do you use on a regular basis that you love? I am just getting into shopping at the health food store and baking for them, too, smile.gif and any help on any products--baking flours, mixes, pre-packaged convenience foods, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I have wasted too much money on bad-tasting things, so I thought I would ask the people who have the experience with trying different foods. Thanks!

For bread mix try Breads from Anna...we made it without a bread machine but it's much easier to make in one. For prepared bread Kinnikinnik can't be beat. Their Italian white tapioca rice bread is the best bread substitute I've had to date. Heard their bagels were great but havn't found them yet. The GFP (gluten free pantry) mixes are great, pie crusts, scones, Pamela's gluten-free pancake mix is wonderful...to me it's like a mix between reg. pancakes and whole wheat ones. For prepared brownies again Kinnikinnik can't be beat. Van's waffles are good but I think I prefer Life Stream's brand over them. For prepared scones try Gltuen Free Bakeshop from Whole Foods...also their raisin carrot loaf is pretty good, toasted with butter. As a rule, most gluten-free bread needs a little heat to make it paletable. Try microwaving for a few seconds if you're not toasting it. EnerG makes the best reg. gluten-free cracker (not rice) and Blue Diamond makes the best rice cracker. EnerG also makes the best pretzels - I'm addicted to their sesame ones. I myself found too many good replacements so I'm trying to watch what I consume...gluten-free versions of things are higher in calories and sugar than their glutenous counterparts.

A few of my favorites:

Tinkyada pasta with kraft mac & cheese powder (it says "shake on popcorn" and comes in a blue canister near the parmesan cheese - it is the cheese mix from their boxed mac & cheese)

same pasta with Emeril's kicked up tomato sauce

string cheese - kraft

Kozy Shack tapioca - all their puddings are great and are labeled gluten-free.

Fruits and vegetables, Kinnickinnick Montana chocolate chip cookies. I like to have stuffed tomatoes or green peppers. For the green peppers, I saute garlic and shrimp and mushrooms together then mix them in with ripe olives, brown rice and goat cheese and bake in my toaster oven.

Rice vermicelli noodles, tinkyada pasta, gluten/ dairy-free spinach lasagna with portabello mushrooms. Stir frys. Celi Mix pancakes.
