my poor kiddo has the runs tonight and her poor bottom is so raw it's bleeding. we are so very very careful to not expose her to any gluten, so I'm hoping that this isn't the case. She did have a bunch of candy today and yesterday was her birthday and she had a lot of sweet stuff yesterday. The only questionable thing is her Amy's macaroni and cheese, but she eats that all the time and hasn't had problems with it before. I know Amy's has had some issues with cc, but I really don't think it's that since she eats it all the time. I think it's just cos she had so much candy. They did an easter egg hunt at school and I traded out all her candy with known safe gluten-free candies that I keep on hand... Hubby was very happy to take the "questionable" candy from her... So, all the candy that she ate I know is safe... I'm just "typing out loud" here... So as I was sitting with her, waiting for the pepto bismol to take effect, I tried to calm her down by telling her, sometimes when we get upset tummies it's not neccessarily gluten, sometimes we are just sick, and sometimes we maybe just ate too much sweet stuff... I feel bad that she is so afraid of gluten, that whenever she gets sick she automatically assumes that is the culprit. I told her she can't live in fear of gluten, I hope hope hope she listened.

After our little episode yesterday with my son, I think I share your daughter's fears. Whenever anything is wrong with him I immediatly start wondering where I made a mistake with gluten. I think I've programmed myself to be so diligent that i'm now obsessive!!!! I hope she feels much better soon. I'll say a prayer for you both!
Also my son used to get a raw bottom like that and we finally found something to help it heal faster - Caldesene powder. My dad used it on me 30 years ago. NOthing else worked and we found it to be lifesaver!!! A lot of pharmacies carry it.

So sorry to hear about that nini. I get that way too, every time I get sick, thinking that there had to be gluten in something that I ate......who knows (with me that is). I hope she feels better soon!!!

her tummy is feeling better this morning, but now she has a rash all over her legs and arms... so I'm afraid she did get exposed to some gluten... poor thing... it had to be such a tiny minute amount to slip by me, but dang it... even I make mistakes! (LOL!)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/may...ni/im000760.jpgit's not a very good pic, but hopefully you can see the rash... it's not itchy...

I'm so glad she's feeling better. My son has a bad rash too after his tummy ache the other night. It's amazing how this all takes its toll. I hope it's better soon.

I get a rash like that after I am exposed to gluten. Are you sure that all those candies were gluten-free? Maybe call and re-confirm with the companies? or maybe the box of Amy's macaroni and cheese was contaminated? Also, she could have just gotten some cross contamination from in invisable crumb at school or in the house. I get gluten reactions and I have no idea why. I just figure that the reaction was from an invisable crumb!

Nini - did she eat anything with marshmallows in it? I know that TCA's son did the other day. I'm just asking because my daughter, who doesn't have gluten problems, has broken out in an itchy rash twice before and we traced it to marshmallows both times. She's had them since without problems, but I always wondered what might be in them to do that. Now, she won't eat them except for s'mores on camping trips and she always is a little fearful of getting that rash again.

no she didn't have any marshmallows and I verified all the candy before I bought them, sooooo either the Amy's mac and cheese was cc'ed which is possible, but she's never reacted to them before... and eats them at least once a week... or it was a crumb of gluten from either her daddy's food or from school... I'm so careful with her food, but hubby is bad about leaving crumbs on the tv trays and the counter...
