I just tried organic coconut milk by Native Forest and loved it! biggrin.gif I found myself craving its flavor and plan to make milk shakes and smoothies with it. But I wonder if there are any health benefits to coconut milk. I have heard about the health benefits of pure coconut oil but not a quality coconut milk.

Have you used organic coconut milk?

Hope this doesn't sound to dumb but is coconut milk actually milk or is it the juice like stuff that you see when you crack open a coconut? Where did you buy the coconut milk your talking about? I would like to find my husband an alternative to dairy milk for things like smoothies. Thanks.

This product is a high-quality product that is the meat of the coconut with a high fat content. It is not so liquid like a juice.

Enjoy!!!!!

Hi I'm also very interested about coconut milk. I'm on the SCD and can't have any sugar. I also can't have dairy due to a casein intolerance. Actually, even if I wasn't on the SCD I can't tolerate any sugar these days. So that wipes out almond milk or anything like that alternative. I've been hearing a lot about this coconut milk. In the ingredients though, is it JUST coconut milk (meat), nothing else? That would be great and I would go run out and get it now! I also need to make homemade yogurt and I wondering how this could be an alternative for it. I just tried the goats milk yogurt because it's supposed to be A LOT less casein and it STILL wiped me out. I've been feeling pretty sick for the last 2 days now from it. So I can't do that either!

If you like the taste of coconut milk AND you like stir fries of chicken...you might consider using it in your cooking. Thai dishes often use coconut milk. I find this gives the dish a nice velvety texture.

Coconut milk recipes

Here is a website with many many recipes. You will note that very few if any have any gluten ingredients (maybe soy sauce but there are gluten-free versions of this)

I tried coconut milk for the first time last week. I made a smoothie, but it was so greasy/rich I could hardly drink it. Is it just the brand of milk I tried?

Try 'lite' coconut milk instead... Thai Kitchen makes a GREAT one.
