SOY ALLERGY NOTICE
April 24, 2006
TO: Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network Members in Massachusetts
FROM: The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network and Amy’s Kitchen
RE: Undeclared Soy in Cheese Enchilada Whole Meal
Amy’s Kitchen is voluntarily recalling, from distribution in the Eastern
time zone, a small amount of Cheese Enchilada Whole Meal due to possible
mislabeling. Some retail packages may actually contain Black Bean
Enchilada Whole Meal, which contains soy.
The 9.0-oz. frozen product comes in a retail package labeled Cheese
Enchilada Whole Meal (UPC 42272 00057), with lot number B216A embossed on
a side panel and printed on the overwrap. The packages were packed in
February of 2006. Distribution was to Amy’s East Coast distribution
center, which in turn distributed the product to retailers. It is
estimated that fewer than 160 meals (retail packages) of the 24,312
produced on that day may actually contain mislabeled product. To be
cautious, Amy’s is withdrawing 4,320 meals of the product from states in
the Eastern time zone.
For instructions and/or questions, consumers may call the company collect
at (707) 578-7753. Alternatively, consumers can call (707) 578-7270.
Consumers who are allergic to soy ingredients should dispose of the
product, keep the package and call for a full refund. Consumers who are
not allergic to soy ingredients can consume the product or call for a full
refund.
This mailing to FAAN members in Massachusetts has been funded by Amy’s
Kitchen to be sure you are aware of the situation.
