Hello everyone. I've been having very strange symptoms for the longest time and a number of big life changes and I'm not sure what is wrong with me but something is. Most of my family and friends, as well as doctors have suggested is stress, and some have even suggested its allergy related, but recently its been worse. None the less here goes:

A few years ago I lived in NYC. Had grown up in the south and moved to NYC in 97, and had been there pretty much solidly for 7+ years. I moved to Stamford CT for a new job. The change in location and surroundings immediately introduced me a strange set of symptoms (i can only relate them as they really became noticeable an apparent at this time). Mainly I was getting upset stomach, tons of gas and burps and irregular bowel movements. I went to allergist and found that I'm highly allergic to Ragweed, Dust mites and fairly allergic to weeds, grass and trees. (Basically allergic to all the things I love). I've been undergoing immuno-therapy (shots to immunize my body to the allergens). While that has taken care of the allergy related symptoms (runny nose, coughing, sneezing etc) I still have these symptoms of extreme gas, constant burping, upset stomach, frequent bowel movements and constant (it seems like) rumbling in my stomach.

Most recently I've had two episodes where I've been very light headed, almost as if floating and the intense un-explainable urge to go to the bathroom, accompanied with gas. I do, and then continue to have painful gas and general bad feeling for hours afterwards. Then I feel better (or back to the status-quo).

I've a very healthy 29 year old male. I run often and lead an active lifestyle, I don't notice lack of energy (at least not other than the two experiences immediately above) and haven't been able to figure this out. Additionally my wife and I tend to eat a predominately organic and clean diet...

Any insight that anyone might have would be helpful, my newest doctor (we recently moved to an area just north of NYC) has suggested that perhaps I eat too fast!? I don't know if this is celiac related, but the symptoms I've experienced in part keep sending me down this road. Should I move forward with the Celiac investigation?

I would go to a doctor and ask for a complete celiac panel. Don't stop eating gluten until after you've had all the testing as eating gluten-free does affect the tests.

It could be celiac ... the blood test is simple.

Hi I would go ahead and ask the doctor to order the celiac panel. Is best to confirm, than wonder for a long time suffering. Trust me I suffered for almost 40 years, and the damage is worse.

I hope you can find a resolution.

Take care, and best regards to you.

For sure, get the celiac panel run, as it can confirm a diagnosis if positive. However, many of us will tell you that there can be false negatives, even if you are eating gluten when the tests are run. Depending on who you listen to, the reasons for this vary, but it does happen for sure. Just something to keep in mind if you get negative results... smile.gif
