I figured since there are so many bad stories about doctors and missing diagnoses of celiacs, I'll add my POSITIVE experience.
My daughter had been having tummy symptoms and acid reflux for about 2 years when we decided it was time to see a specialist. We went to Children's Hospital in Denver (near where we live) and within two months we had the diagnosis (after an upper GI, Prevacid not helping, endoscopy, and blood screen) it was confirmed my daughter (9) has celiacs.
Even after I spoke to the doctor who performed her endoscopy and he showed us the pictures, he said that a regular, adult GI doc might have missed the diagnosis because the villous blunting was so slight it might have just been overlooked.
So, if anyone in the Denver area needs someplace to go with their kiddos, Children's did a great job!

QUOTE(confused @ May 29 2007, 09:54 AM)

was it dr. hoffenburg?
I think Dr. Hoffenburg did the endoscopy, but we've been seeing a PA in the GI office named Stephanie Petersburg. I think she was surprised it was Celiacs, but she was certainly diligent and prompt throughout the whole process.
DD had so many of the mild symptoms, I could see how it could have gone undiagnosed for years and years.
