Hi,
I went to my Dr. yesterday for a follow-up on my iron levels, and she suggested that I see a homeopath in order to determine a homeopathic remedy for when I get glutened.
I got glutened a week and half ago and I am finally feeling better. My symptoms range from d, to dizzy and lighteheadness to sore throat and a cough and seem to last such a long time. My questions:
1) The cost for a consult is $250. Is this going to be worth it? I have done alot of self-education, and have not read anywhere about homeopathy being helpful. I am very open to alternative medicine, I see an integrative doctor.
2) I have been thinking of sending in for Enterolab tests to see if I have any other sensitivities and have seen positive comments on the boards about them. Would that be a better use of my money? The tests are quite expensive as well, so I couldn't do both.
Any experience would be appreciated. I have until Mon. to cancel my appt. that I made for the homeopath.

LOVE EM!!!!!!! I have been to a Kinesiologist/herbalist. I love this lady. I went from being sick constantly, if someone got the cold, I got the flu. I have had more sicknesses than I care to admit to. I went to the herbalist after the baby (2 yrs ago) because the baby was having colic issues. A few drops for the baby and a bunch of vitamins and supplements for me and it was great. I nearly dies at the $150 in vitamins! But 24 hrs later we had a happier child. 48 hrs later she was a different baby! Even my hubby, Mr skeptic, acknowledges that this lady did something amazing. As for my health, now I get some colds like the rest of the world. If everyone in my house is sick, I get a stuffy nose - that's all.
The only downside is I think you really have to go to a homeopath that is recommended. I have been to some who really seem like quacks.
I don't know what they can do to help your reactions? Those are just terrible. But, they can help build your body back up to a good healthy state and give you supplements that will help as maintenance of a healthy body.
I hope you go. I hope you have a great experience too. Good luck!

I think that my doctor was concerned about building my immune system back up, since I have been getting everything that comes around. I have a sore throat now, which feels like strep, and I've had that three times this year! My bosy can't handle any more antibiotics-hate them!! The vote of encouragement is really helpful. Thanks.

Hey everyone
Just a note to say, i got a appt with a gastro that specializes in celiac. on the 19th of july. And much to my surprise he comes down to my town every month. So wont have to drive to SLC utah.
I broke out again, lip and my behind, still kind of achy. I had the worst headache yestersay It took 15 mg of vicoden to kick it but woke up this morning feeling much better today. Found out the lotion that i use to rub my dh back has gluten. It didnt say on the package but now i have switched to Dove to that should hellp.
The question I have got to ask is, should I ask to have tests to see if I am allergic to anything else? Would a gastro be able to do that? Or do I have to go to a different dr? I am so sick of dr's at this point but might as well get that done. (I guess).
Noglugirl-- thanks again for your help, we have no natural food stores around here so THANKS!!!

Hi,
I love my homeopathic; he has given my life back twice now.
If you live in Sacramento, he is worth seeing. I have a very weak immune system.
He has me on a whole desiccated Adrenal. Your Adrenal gland
Is important to your immune system, I also use Golden Seal root.
He gave me this when I get sick; I follow this Infection Protocol…
1. increase of fluids, broths, vegetable soups
2. Go on a low allergy diet, specifically avoiding dairy products or other foods you eat frequently such as sweets, wheat products, etc..
3. For sore throat gargle with Listerine, powdered vitamin C or warm salt water 4 to 5 times daily.
4. Facial dip and hand wash should be done 4 to 5 times a day while sick. This helps reduce the pathogenic load in the upper respiratory tree and can relieve symptoms especially of upper respiratory and sinus congestion.
5. Keep activity moderate and rest.
6. Avoid inhalant insults such as tobacco smoke, odiferous perfumes, chemicals, etc
7. Avoid common allergen such as animal dander’s and excessive mold or dust
Supplements:
a. Vitamin C powder or tablets to bowel tolerance. Vitamin C powder may be taken 1 teaspoon (4000 mgs) every half an hour unless there are symptoms’ of gas, bloating, diarrhea or gastrointestinal discomfort. Doubling the dosage just before bedtime many times does not result in therapeutic benefit. 1000 mg vitamin C tablets can be taken every 15 minutes (again to the above protocol of bowel tolerance).
b. PGF garlic may be taken 1 to 2 capsules 4 to 5 times daily.
c. Vitamin A except for those with severe liver disease or the possibility of being pregnant) Vitamin A can be taken in large dosages for the short duration of the infection (4 to 5 days) 100,000 to 200,000 I.U. per day.
d. Zinc picolinate between 50 and 100 mgs for the duration of the illness (4 to 5 days).
e. Vitamin C pushes (AD1 of AD2 or vitamin C-drips) can be scheduled in the clinic.
f. If you are on antibiotic therapy you may take vital-plex either during or starting after ¼ teaspoon 3 times a day but continuing with the supplementation regimen and at least 2 weeks after your antibiotic course.
g. If you are not improving within 3 to 5 days please call the Health Associates Medical Group for further instruction.
h. If the above lifestyle and nutritional approaches are aggressively pursued many times antibiotic therapy can be cut in ½ to 1/3rd of the normal duration due to the shortening duration of the illness.
