I was going to buy a box of frozen chicken breasts the other day when I noticed that it had flavor listed as an ingredient. I wrote the company and asked. This is the answer I received:
There is no hydrolyzed vegetable protein in this formulation. The component
for "flavor" is seaweed flour (carrageen) and smoke flavor.
So what is seaweed flour (carrageen)? I know it's made from seaweed, but beyond that, I don't know whether I can eat it. What about smoke flavor? Do I need to write back for clarification (in case they can do that) or does anyone know? I do find it handy to have the chicken breasts on hand.
