i went to my daughter's doctor today and picked up a copy of her lab results. her transglutaminase(tTG) IgG test was a 6 which the lab labeled as a weak positive. does this mean she might not have celiac after all?? any info would help, so confused!! thanks!!~K

it's kinda like pregnancy - you're either positive or negative. a weak positive is still a positive. if she's producing antibodies against her own tissue when she eats gluten (which is what that test is picking up), she's got it.

thank you so much for your response!! I'm not excited about this diagnosis, but at this point any information helps to ease the anxiety. i fully expected her to be diagnosed with IBS like me(i am now awaiting my celiac panel results, ugh), so this diagnosis was quite a surprise. any ideas, opinions, comments on going forth with a biopsy?

Okay, so if you show even some antibodies then you are? My tests were at 2.9 and I was told that was negative.

After two days with gluten there really is no question in my mind that I have a real problem with that. It's whether I can get a test to show that this is positive
Thanks
Heather (with the crazy in-laws... they really just don't get it at all)

AFAIK everyone makes some of these antibodies. I know Evan's test did not show 0, but it was under the level they considered a + result. Did you get your results back today? I'm hoping for mine on Monday, but think they're negative and have decided I'm intolerant vs celiac.
