Hi,

Our 4 yo has celiac disease. We are in the midst of a search for a new paed due to other reasons and we were wondering if it was worth calling docs to ask if they have experience with celiac disease. Also, are there any other docs he should be seeing? Is it OK for just the paed to manage his care? Our old paed really didn't know anything about celiac disease so we're not really sure.

Thanks.

I think it would be a good idea to find a pediatrician who has other patients with celiac disease and understands about it. It will save you a lot of hassles in the long run. Otherwise you will fight an uphill battle every time you have to take your son to the doctor, constantly having to educate the doctor, and possibly having to fight him on decisions.

And it is YOU who will manage his care, not a doctor. Since his treatment consists of a diet change, and you are the cook, what does a doctor have to do with it?
