We took our Celiac daughter to a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon this afternoon due to complaints of leg and hip pain.

This doctor was recommended by our Pediatrician's office.

The surgeon confirmed that our daughter's left leg is a tiny bit shorter than her right... but, he asked about her "entire" medical history. I could not see how it was relevant. However, I then learned that he's subspecializes in pediatrics, not just "surgery." And, I learned that he works alongside her GI - to help kids with Celiac!!!

He gave me some excellent recommendations for supplementation, and he explained that quite often, Celiac kiddos have issues with the muscles on the right side of their bodies. (I didn't know that) and that it could be causing her to "overcompensate" in both directions... on the right due to the pain from her "shorter" leg, and on the left...due to the low muscle tone and tightness of the muscles from Celiac.

I'm sure I'm NOT explaining that right. But, I was just totally impressed that he was considering the fact that she had other issues that could be causing more problems than "normal."

All that being said.... he was VERY knowledgeable on Celiac, food allergies, and the problem we went in for. I was really pleased!

Awesome! And it's great that he asked about her whole medical history. That's how things should be. If one of my rheumtologists had asked questions other than specifically about the joint pain, maybe they would have figured out that the pain wasn't a joint issue or arthritis, but a food intolerance. I'm glad you got a diagnosis , and it's not something too serious.
