Hello all,

i just had the blood test done tTG IgA is 1.5 ( the range is 0-20.0) and the Immunglobulin A is 3.79 ( range is .6-4.2).

The test report says Celiac screen is negative but i thought if both these were positive it indicates a possibility of Celiac disease. If anyone has an idea about this please get back

thanks

Hi Curious smile.gif

Yes, it looks like your blood results were Negative
tTg ref range is 0-20 ...meaning anything between 0-20 is 'normal' - anything over 20 points towards celiac disease.
Total IgA ref range .6-4.2....anything below .6 indicates low IgA which could negate any antibody test
Both of yours are within the normal range

However....these results DO NOT necessarily mean you don't have celiac disease OR gluten intolerance (my husband had negative blood results but went on to have a 'positive for celiac disease' biopsies of small bowel)

You now have 2 options:
Go gluten-free anyway & see if you feel any better
Have an endoscopy with biopsies

BTW ... were you eating gluten before the blood tests?????

Good Luck smile.gif

Hi Nikki smile.gif

thanks very much for your reply. I will decide on the 2 options and i think i will test with foods containing gluten to check if i feel worse and then go on a gluten free diet.

Prior to the test i wasnt on a gluten free diet. However i wasnt eating a whole lot of wheat products either.
I know that whey protein causes my stomach to cramp for sure.

Once again thanks for your reply. smile.gif

Curious,

Nikki gave you good advice. Lots of people feel better with little to no gluten even w/o celiac disease- my daughter is one. Take it out and see how you feel!

good luck!
