Thank goodness I finally understand what was making me sick for so many years!

So here’s an ode to no more mad dashes for the bathroom! No more aches and pains and fog and migraines and blisters (knock on wood)!

Things I am grateful for:

-I survived and can expect a pretty normal life
-there is a simple fix
-catching it before it did me in
-most of the side effects are reversible
-I now have the chance to explore a whole different world of cooking
-there is a supportive community
-being able to live without fear of pain or of having to suddenly get sick
-being able to sleep all night long
-still being able to eat out
-still being able to enjoy so very many delicious things
-kinnikinnick donuts and blueberry muffins
-the 2006 labeling law
-having a supportive family
-enormous long lists of candy that is okay from ROCK
-fabulous recipes on the internet
-knowing that I am not alone in what I have experienced
-having a new lease on life
-this site
-meeting wonderful fellow celiacs from all over
-the chance to maybe help other people who have this disease
-the chance to educate my doctor so that others may not have to suffer
-the many others who have gone before me so that my life will be easier
-buckwheat waffles from lifestream with lemon curd
-the local stores that carry gluten-free products
-the small companies that make the gluten-free products
-the advice and well wishes and time from other people here
-getting the chance to learn something new about human biology and chemistry
-being finally free to live by my own terms and not by gluten’s
-understanding much better what it means to be human
-empathy

Having energy again and not be depressed.
Feeling like a whole person.
Not worrying about being embarrassed by little gas problems.
Having a loving and caring family and friends.
Gaining new experiences.
Being able to understand what others are going through and helping them.
Some really yummy gluten free food.
Trying new things that I wouldn't have tried before.
Love and support of others.
There is so many more but that is what all I can think of now....
