Just back from 3 days in Venice which was wonderful except for trying to find a gluten free meal - which was a nightmare. The hotel only did continental breakfast but I had some crisp bread so was able to have something to eat. We walked and walked trying to find somewhere that offered something other than pizza and rolls. I ended up with rissotto twice and a piece of chicken and salad for the third meal. All very expensive so was a bit disappointed as a web site had said it would be no problem. Just wanted to let anyone know that was contemplating going there.

Yep, I bought pieces of fruit from one of the little markets and ate hunks of cheese. Venice is very touristy and they serve food that Americans and Europeans think of as being traditionally "Italian" (pizza, pasta). In reality, Italians eat all sorts of things, many of which are gluten free, but not in Venice.
