I was wondering if anyone tested positive on Enterolab's casein antibody test, gave it up for awhile, and then started eating it again?
I have not had any in a few months. I have not tried it, but was wondering when would be an okay time. I have a yogurt maker and the yogurt starter I have has milk protein in it. Even if I make it with soy milk there will be a little casein in it.
Longing for yogurt.....

I made a "yogurt" sort of thing with silken tofu, water, berries, guar gum, salt, citric acid, ascorbic acid, and sweetened with Stevia. For the acidophilus, I used a dairy-free probiotic supplement, and emptied the capsule into it. It's amazing what a blender can do. I don't know it the bacteria would curdle the soy if given enough sugar and time, but I guess if you wanted that, it could always be left in the fridge a day or two.
I haven't tried dairy since finding that it bothered me. Not sure I ever will.

I tried having some chocolate milk about three months after I got my results from Enterolab and it was not fun:ph34r:. I was sick for two days afterwards: headache, stiff neck, and stomach issues. I might have tried too soon, but I don't think I'll be trying any again for a long long time.
I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for the yogurt. I'm on the Paleo diet right now, so all I eat is meat, fruits, and veggies. RiceGuy's yogurt recipe sounds pretty good though.

Hello-
I had an 18 on the Enterolab casein test, but had been off dairy for about four months when I took it. I tried dairy again as a sort of celebration for my six-month anniversary of being officially gluten-free, and no luck. I had also accidentally gotten dairy earlier on and had problems. My issues with dairy pre-gluten-free were digestive problems, but later on in the process it was more that I would get really nasty anxiety and depression. It would hit a couple of days later. I decided to try again at about seven and a half months, and low and behold, no problems other than a little bit of a bubbly belly. It's still pretty early on and I'm being somewhat cautious, but it's been two weeks now of daily dairy and things have been fine. I am using lactose free milk right now, but have been trying to have a bit of cheese or something along those lines each day as well just to try to stimulate the villi to produce lactase again. I think that may be why I had the tummy bubbles at first. They seem to have gone away now, so something must be working 8^) Just as a side note, I'd been dairy free for about a year and gluten free for about seven and a half months before I could go back on dairy
Anyway, based on what I had read on this site, I was pretty hesitant to get my hopes up....I've always been a HUGE dairy fan, so that part was pretty hard for me. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself by posting about a success, but I wanted to let you know there is some hope.
