I've had stomach problems for the past year that have progressively gotten worse. I have abdominal bloating that now never goes away, it gets progressively worse throughout the day. By days end I look as if I'm 6-7 months pregnant. No pain but very uncomfortable. This is my only physical symptom. I had blood work for Celiac that came back negative. My endoscopy showed gastric inflamation with the biposy showing white bood cells. I was told that I either have a bacteria overgrowth or celiacs disease. I finished a course on anitbiotics (Neomycin) and have also been on probiotics for 3 weeks. I have also been on Protonix for one year. NO RELIF IN SYMPTOMS.

I went back to my GI doc and he says that he can't help me. That there is nothing more that he can do for me. That I may have to learn to live with my discomfort.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Does anyone have any suggestions or guidance?

I have started a gluten-free diet 2 days ago, so far no relief in my symptoms.
If I have Celiac Disease how long after the diet will I start feeling better?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm new at this, so I might not be the best person to respond. Years ago, I was so bloated. I tried having Lactaid milk instead of regular milk, and that helped a lot. It's possible it's celiac, I don't know. I'm surprised, with your elevated white blood cells, that he didn't do more testing. It sounds like something to get to the bottom of.

I would look into candida. The bloating can be from the yeast.

Also, I had bacterial overgrowth and antibiotics didn't fix it. I used oregano oil, uva ursi, plant tannins, and MAJOR probiotics. I also used a product called Humaworm .... I did two rounds 90 days apart (www.humaworm.com).

Peppermint oil helped me with the discomfort (not the kind for candy, the kind from the health food store), but be careful as some are sensitive to it.

Just because the doctors gave up doesn't mean you should. Fight till you get better.

Bacterial overgrowth is considered a symptom of celiac disease according to...I think according to "Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic". I've read "Dangerous Grains, the above mentioned book and "Kids with Celiac Disease" plus I've been perusing the internet and now looking at forums. I can't recall if that information was from the first book, but I think it was. I know that one can be made more vulnerable to Candida Albicans overgrowth. The herbal remedies are also a good course of action for the overgrowth, but I wouldn't rule out celiac disease. Your doc might not be as up on the latest research as he should be. Many aren't, and the information on celiac disease has exploded only in the last 10 years or so.
