I have been working on being diligently gluten-free for the last 6 months and would describe my symptoms as typical when I get glutened, itchy knees, elbows, bottom, depression, mind fog. However, I still have light itching on areas that get hot (i.e. on my bottom after sitting all day or at night) but am fine all other times. I've probably been glutened 2-3 times in this period. Is this normal? Will being gluten-free and time resolve this? I've read that the gluten antibodies get lodged in the skin and can stay for a long time. Is this what I am experiencing? When I get glutened to any degree the reaction is pretty strong so im pretty sure I am not getting glutened in this situation. If anyone may have some insight into this I would appreciate it. Thanks

I can't tell you the science of it but I can tell you that it took many weeks for my DH to clear up & longer for the skin discoloration to return to a healthy pink. If I have a bad reaction & it returns, again a long time to heal although the itching does seem to back off faster than the skin condition. I sometimes have days where I suddenly realize I'm mildly itchy there. I need to search for the cause then before it gets worse, sometimes there's a slightly hot sensation as you say. It is a sign to me that something I thought was OK, wasn't. I've learned to avoid artificial sweeteners & drink syrups. Hope that helps!
